A conversation between the artist Ina Hagen and writer Marjam Idriss, moderated by Jade Meili Barget, organised in conjunction with Hagen’s solo exhibition, A Combustible Grammar, with Volt in Bergen.

Hagen and Idriss share an interest in the construction and perpetuation of national petro-narratives within Norway, as well as the through-line from our colonial past to our fossil-extracting present. Idriss’s second novel, Halvt (Half) (2023), explores the colonial history of Denmark and Norway, and examines Norway’s contemporary oil industry.
