szu szu is a project initiated by the three artists Karol Radziszewski, Ivo Nikic and Piotr Kopik from Warszawa. They established their collaboration 2001, while they were students at the Painting Institute at the Warsawa Academy of Fine Arts. They call themselves ”szu szu – a flying gallery” and each project is associated with a new idea, locality and context.
The group have already held over 40 actions and events in Poland and in several other European countries. They work as a collective and as a mobile gallery, and operate in the space between making art, organising, curating and exploring. They use different media and create a range of different work from small interventions to large-scale projects.
For their exhibition at Volt szu szu have transformed themselves into the sailor band Kashanti. They will present a CD with nine songs, video clips and other works. This transformation into amateur singers of sea shanties creates an artistic language that can be used to convey stories from real life and musings upon the art world. KASHANTI is the first project in Norway by the prominent, young, Polish collective.
