Volt invites you to a reading circle, dialogue and discussion related to texts by Mario Perniola.

Introduction by Helge Pettersen, Associate Professor, Department of Philosophy at the University of Bergen.

The excerpts are from the chapter "Phenomenon and Simulacrum" in Ritual Thinking: Sexuality, Death, World (Humanity Books, 2001), pages 175-181, as well as from Art & Its Shadow (Bloomsbury Publishing, 2004), pages 3-13 and 155-170.

Mario Perniola (1941-2018) was a professor of Aesthetics at the Tor Vergata University in Rome. The Research Group on Subjectivation and late Modernity (SLM) at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Bergen has held several seminars at the Norwegian Institute in Rome, featuring Perniola as contributor.
